Electrosurgery is a term used to describe multiple modalities that use electricity to cause thermal destruction of tissue through dehydration, coagulation, or vaporization. The two types of electrosurgery most commonly used are high-frequency electrosurgery and electrocautery. Electrosurgery is a procedure that uses heat from an electric current to destroy abnormal tissue, such as a tumor or other lesion. It may also be used to control bleeding during surgery or after an injury. The electric current passes through an electrode that is placed on or near the tissue. Electrosurgery is a technique often used in surgery to control bleeding and to rapidly dissect soft tissue in surgery. The electrical resistance of these soft tissues to an electromagnetic current generates heat. The endpoints of electrosurgery vary based on the waveform, power used, and surgical technique. Electrosurgery refers to the cutting and coagulation of tissue using high-frequency electrical current [1]. Physicians using this technique must be knowledgeable about prevention and management of potential complications of electrosurgical procedures. Electrosurgical generators works in the following way: It consists of an electrosurgical generator that transforms electrical energy into HF current. It is operated using a specific control. The generator is connected to an active electrode. It is this active electrode that comes into contact with the tissue it will create a thermal effect on.
